Posted by admin - October 28th, 2011

Does your hectic schedule have you feeling anxious and overwhelmed? Maybe it’s time to take a step back and focus on reducing your stress levels so that you can be more energetic, happy, and productive during your days.

Experts say that some stress is good for you because it keeps you alert, sharpens your senses, and engages your mind. However, too much stress negatively affects your mental and physical health. Therefore, stress management and relaxation techniques can do wonders to restore balance in your life and may help reduce the harmful health affects that stress can cause.

At our Yoga and Pilates Center in Windermere, we are having a Stress Management and Relaxation Workshop on Saturday, November 5th and its only $40! At our workshop, you will learn how to alleviate stress and return to your natural state of relaxation. You will learn insightful ways to reduce the power of negative thinking, as well as how to release tension in your body through breathing techniques.

What you learn in this workshop can be applied to any area of your life. It can help you to get less stressed at work or while driving in rush hour traffic. No yoga experience is necessary to participate in our Stress Management and Relaxation Workshop. Reflexology in Windermere

Posted by admin - October 19th, 2011

Reflexology is a natural healing practice that involves applying pressure to the feet or hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques in order to improve the health of another area of the body. Reflexology is based on a structure of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands. Stretching movements and techniques are also sometimes used to provide relaxation to the foot. Oils, creams, and lotions are not traditionally used for reflexology.

The theory behind reflexology is that there are reflex areas on the feet and hands that correspond to other specific parts of the body such as organs, glands, and even the brain. For example:

•    the tips of the toes reflect the head
•    the base of the toes reflect parts of the neck
•    the arch of the foot reflects the liver, kidney, and pancreas
•    the area around the heel reflects the lower back and intestines

Reflexology can help to reduce stress because the feet and hands set the tension level for the rest of the body. Studies show that reflexology can increase the blood flow to the brain, kidneys and intestines. It can also reduce pain in targeted areas through improved circulation and pressure points.

At Tranquiliti Wellness Center in Windermere, we are now offering an hour of reflexology or massage and an hour with Anne teaching communication and bonding techniques. All for $100! Give our Windermere Yoga and Pilates Center a call today at 407-448-0244!

Meditation and Its Benefits

Posted by admin - October 10th, 2011

Using the dictionary definition, meditation means to reflect upon, ponder, or contemplate. However, in the context of yoga, meditation is defined more specifically as a conscious relaxation. Meditation is a personal, inwardly-oriented practice that is executed by individuals either on their own or in a group meditation class. Meditation has many benefits for your mind, body, and personal spirituality. Meditation helps a person’s confidence, increases blood flow, reduces stress, assists in post-operative healing, improves concentration, and much more!

To meditate, start by paying attention to your breathing. By focusing exclusively on your breaths, your attention is taken away from day to day stress, pain, intense emotions, worries, and anything that could prevent your mind from being able to relax. After you have cleared your mind by concentrating on only your breathing, you can experience a sense of calm, peace, and serenity. It ultimately evolves into an expanded state of awareness and a deeper spiritual connection because you allow your mind to open up to new insights.

At Tranquiliti Wellness Center in Windermere, Florida, we provide a physical & spiritual well-being through meditation, yoga, pilates, and life coaching. We currently do private group meditation classes on Saturday and on Mondays. Come and join us for a rewarding experience!

Lifestyle Changes With Pilates

Posted by admin - September 29th, 2011

If you’re unsure about Pilates, and if it’s appropriate for you, we’re going to discuss what Pilates is and how you can drastically improve your quality of life with a prolonged commitment to it!  First of all, Pilates was created by Joseph Pilates in Germany in the early 20th century.  Its initial purpose is to promote body conditioning while also augmenting flexibility, strength, endurance, and coordination between different section of your body.  There are six different principles in which Pilates is founded on:

  • Concentration
  • Control
  • Centering
  • Flow of movement
  • Precision
  • Breathing

We have seen Tranquiliti members see a number of benefits from Pilates classes.  Changes include being more limber, losing weight, and more energy in parts of the body such as the legs and hips.

Pilates Moves of the Week

Posted by admin - May 27th, 2011

It has been some time since we have given you a Pilates move of the week, so here it is:

The Mermaid: Sit on the floor with your legs folded to your left side like a mermaid. Lean towards your right hip and keep balance with your right arm straightened and your hand placed beside you on the mat. Be sure your back is straight.

Next, extend your left arm above your head to create a diagonal line all the way down your side. Try to keep your shoulder down and relaxed. Once you are in that position, move your right hand (that is on the mat) out a few inches and lay your elbow on the mat, so that your arm is making an “L.”

When this happens, your right arm is going extend further over your head, creating a nice stretch to your side. After holding that stretch, center your weight again and grab your knee with your left hand and stretch your right arm over your head.

Repeat a few times slowly, then switch sides.

Tranquiliti Wellness Center’s focus is mind, body, and soul, one client at a time. When you visit, you will simply feel right at home and among friends. Tranquiliti Wellness Center provides physical and spiritual well-being through meditation, yoga, and pilates. Call 407-448-0244 to learn more information.
